We did in Slidell. Damn near flooded the house when the backside moved through and the wind came from the south. Ive never seen water come up that fast.
No kidding man the water had actually fallen almost a foot in the 1st half. Then the eye passes and as soon as that wind swung from the west the water came up probably 5ft in 20-25 minutes. I had to go rescue the dock boxes and my gheenoe from my dock.

Made a drink and walked up to Bonnabel boat launch for about 20 minutes and then settled in. Thankfully our block didn’t lose power.

Geauxpurple, I was 8 lived across from London Ave canal. Me and my friend went out during the eye and the canal was inches from the top of the concrete. We were freaking out, ran back home and my dad decided we would drive uptown to my grandparents house. Oh yeah it started back before we got there. My cousins followed us. The ceiling was sucking up and down the windows blew out, we were freaking out. The next day trees were everywhere, we played Tarzan and had a blast. Lol

My parents live in Larose and it went right over them. My dad’s almost 80 and said he was very scared.
The worse part was, it was supposed to be a minor hurricane, so he stayed home. But the hurricane intensified late and caught them off guard. They had a few trees ripped up, but the house was fine.
They have no power, but my dad has a generator.

Hurricane Alicia 1983(?) in Houston. Daytime landfall that was pretty scary. Eye passed over us and i remember thinking how weird it was that the storm was over already. The sun came out.
