Been using Colgate Total probably since it came out. Triclosan is in a multitude of products and very effective as an anti-bacterial agent. If everything that is antibacterial/antiseptic is taken off the market it will up sales of antibiotics.
When growing up we had Penicillin, Iodine, Mercurochrome and Merthiolate. Interesting how difficult it is to get three of those items now, and they were very effective.. They used to be in just about every drug, grocery and general store. Medicine is big money!

Why just Colgate? I assume most brand-name toothpastes use just about the same ingredients.
