The Nazis said the same thing when they made the Jews register their drones. Don't be naive, we can all see what's happening here.

If you're not doing anything illegal with it, then what is the issue with registering it?

The article you linked even states there's no reason not to register it.

people just seem hell-bent on making a Freedom Stand on every freakin issue. This isn't guns, which actually is specifically addressed by the Constitution, regardless of how it is interpreted today. It's at least in there.

Because you "don't ride in it" has absolutely no implications on its ability to cause safety concerns. If anything, the fact that you don't ride in it and can't see what it can see makes it more dangerous, making the argument for registration/regulation even more substantial.

But if your drone somehow gets caught up in some sort of incident and it’s later revealed that the offending drone was never registered, well, that’s when the FAA might hit you with some stiff penalties.

How do they plan on tracking down the owner of an unregistered drone?

Dear Logan,

The FAA substantially and wholeheartedly disagrees with your analysis that an aircraft operated remotely eliminates its status as an aircraft. The comparison between an RC Car and an RC Aircraft is most similar to comparing a brown dog to a brown cat. Despite both having brown fur, one remains a dog and one remains a cat.

We look forward to the registration of your drone and your legal enjoyment of such an enjoyable hobby.

Sincerely,

FAA
Washington DC.

Check out fpv flying on utube. I have a 250 sized quad and I'm about to get goggles for fpv flying. Great use of a drone-boredome never comes!

The American Medical Association?

I think it's the FAA.

But I also think that the drone revolution has ended, as a result of this law. And right before Christmas, too. That's gotta be hurting a few companies.

You don't register your drones, you register yourself. You are then assigned an ID# that must be on any aircraft you own down to .55lbs. The list of pilots with home addresses will be published.

To be honest, anyone not wanting to register a drone is the exact person I don't want having one.

Probably a serious perv.
