Which is more technologically difficult?

Landing a reusable space shuttle or a verticals landing of SpaceX boosters?
While the shuttle is.a massive flying(falling) brick, it does have some lift/slope. The boosters are just straight up falling and then they defeat that speed in a short distance.
I guess I should amend since the shuttle has to survive entry into the atmosphere.
So once in atmosphere, which is more difficult?

I would think that with 80/90s technology built into the shuttle vs current tech in SpaceX rockets, plus the fact that you have 5-8 humans on board that the shuttl has less forgiveness, but what do I know,

Are you talking technology or skill?
The landing shuttle is basically a glider which have been around 100 years or so. Now it would take a good bit of skill to land it precisely and safely.
Having a booster return and land vertically is, as far as I know, something that was not possible until lately due to technical advances.

Landing boosters autonomously is more technologically difficult. The shuttle was landed by people, the boosters land themselves. I'm not saying the shuttle wasn't impressive or hard to land but from a purely technological standpoint the booster thing is more difficult.
