I know there are plenty of posters on here in Houston that are going to have water in their homes and will need a place to stay. I also know there are plenty of people on this site that have hotel rooms booked for the game next weekend. What's the best way to transfer a room to people in need of a place to stay?

That's what I feared, but in the off chance the hotel that I had booked doesn't flood, I'd like for my room to go to someone that needs it. There are plenty of things going through a lot of Houston residents minds. If a room for two nights cost free allows them some temporary comfort it's worth it.

Very nice of you, but I'd just cancel your booking if you're not going to use it. Maybe someone is trying to find a vacancy, and you might not find someone to fill that. Again very kind of you, so please don't take this the wrong way.

Call the hotel and ask them. That's if you already have a room.

A lot of the people in need will be somewhere north or west, so if you don't have a reservation, call a hotel in Waco or San Antonio and ask if they have any Harvey evacuees, and if so, pay for one night. You could also donate to the Red Cross and earmark the donation for that purpose.
