Perhaps being prepared for a tank war, and to win it, is a significant reason why we will likely not get into a tank war in 2016...you know, deterrence.

What is the Justification For Having an Army, Navy, AND a Marine Corps?
I've never been in the military, but even I know you need these.
Think of the Marines being the "tip of the spear", or fight the initial battles to gain a foothold or take a beach head, and the Army fights the war (campaigns once a foothold established). That's how I understand it anyway, from a high level. The training must be a bit different, and the munitions are different I would think.

Every branch of the military has non combat roles and administrative people and costs, right? A big part of the cost savings would be eliminating redundancies, is what I would expect. How much would be saved, I have no clue.
Although there may be some true redundancies, in most cases I can think of support is scaled to size, so it's not like you can magically support significantly more troops with the same number of support personnel. Sure there's some, but I bet it would be a negligible difference.
In peacetime it'd probably be similar to many office environments where the more you add "front line troops" (be it salesmen, attorneys, doctors, whatever) without adding support, the more dysfunctional it becomes.
In wartime, exponentially so and with grave consequences.

I always wonder what exactly the Marines do that requires them to have their own department within the Navy. In the modern Army, Naval Infantry is hardly needed, especially with the Army's Quick Reaction Force or any one of our Airborne Brigades (Especially ones in the 82d).

The enlisted were able to complete most tasks assigned, and many of the officers could have probably been Soldiers.
Your idea has merit. Disband the anachronistic Army with its heavy Division/Brigade model and replace them with Marine regiments and expand the self contained Marine MEU concept. Between Marine Infantry, Armor and Air, Navy Seals and Blue and Brown water Navy-country is good to go.
Also you come across as a bit of a dickhead troll.

When a female off the street can pass your hardest school with ease, there's a fundamental problem there. Remind me again how many females have made it through Infantry Officers Training? Probably the 3rd hardest school in the Marine Corps.
