3 Incidents come to mind.
Driving on interstate in Missouri, 5 lanes I believe. Car goes to merge over, semi truck behind it clips the back end of it when it does. Car Turns and is perpendicular being pushed by the Semi. Car spits out in front of the semi and into the guard rail. Being that close to an accident like that is never good.
Driving same highway and it's tiered at this part. Tractor trailer from higher up in the lane going the opposite direction must have cut a tire. Huge chunk comes flying at my windshield and impacted right where my head would be. Went so slow and I was sure it was coming through the windshield.
Working concrete moving forms one morning. Step on the metal lip of the flat bed we are on and it's covered in dew. Slip and fall to the ground that is littered with transmissions and all kinds of other metal junk. Way I landed looked like a chalk outline, but I missed landing on any of it.

More than I care to recall, in what seems like another life, in Vietnam. Kneeling beside a friend, sniper shot rings out. Hit him in the forehead - done.
Post military, sitting right seat in a Lear 25, right after take-off, the nose gear rotated 45* & locked. Imagine running out of fuel knowing when we put that wheel on the concrete we were done. Tried one approach & "tapped" the nose wheel to see if would straighten up - lifted right back up. After almost three hours of communication with Lear, they finally found a solution & all went well, but it was a long few hours.

Yet another Lear horror story. I have heard too many of those.

Had totally forgotten I had that happen to me. We were at some bullshite party in Fayetteville NC for a girl we worked with. Her thug arse friends were there. Stuff started getting chippy between the girls we were with an some other girls at the party so we were going to take off.
We head to the car and turn around at the house was at the end of the street. This little punk comes out to the end of the driveway yelling that he was going to beat my arse. I hop out of the truck start walking towards him an get a pistol to the face.
It's amazing how quickly that makes you lose the urge to fight.

Haha think I went with, "You're fricking stupid"
We were all military and this kid was pretty damn dumb. Small base so everyone had seen each other before.
He ended up getting court martialed for other stuff later on

In 2002 we capsized a boat on a duck hunting trip in Wax Lake Outlet. All three of us were able to get on the hull of the overturned boat. After many many tries to call for help with the cell phone and a couple of hours of floating on the hull, one of the hunters started to show signs of hyperthermia. He became incoherent and could no longer hold onto the boat. We continued to pull him out of the water until the other hunter almost drowned trying to pull him out the last time. I was able to pull the other hunter back onto the boat and helped him empty out his waders full of water. We drifted on the boat for a while, then were able to get into shallow enough water to push the boat to an old duck blind. We sat in the boat trying to figure out what to do as heavy fog started rolling in. Luckily about 5pm we heard some other hunters and started shouting mayday and they came to our aid. We went back to there camp and were able to warm up from the shaking of the cold wet weather. They brought us back to the landing and we went to the Sheriff's Dept. to give our statement. Toughest thing was telling the recent widow how her husband had died and we were still alive. We went back the next morning to help with the recovery of the body but could locate it. It took about 21 days for the body to be found. It was the longest day of my life and I consider myself lucky to be alive.

No, journalism.
Once he was interviewing a killer who the cops couldn't place a charge on but he was sure it was the guy. The man told my dad, "You're not leaving this room alive."
The second time some guy was committing fraud so he went to go interview him at his home. Guy says sure, come over - opens the door and there's a revolver pointed at his head. He somehow talked his way out of both of those. Guy #2 killed himself later that day.
The third was when he was jumping a fence some guy started shooting at him and a friend of his.
Makes me feel like a bitch.

Damn that is awful. My dad's friend had a similar experience. They were canoeing and his friend's buddy got trapped between the canoe and a rock. His friend kept going under and breathing in his mouth until he was too exhausted and to keep going under.
