It's all about a Legacy, what will we do in our short time on earth to leave our enternal print. It may be as little as saying hey to that one guy on the road who looked down, you may have saved his life or you may achieve great things in your life. All of these are up to you, as long as you feel did right with your time...then I feel like I could die with peace in my heart.

this was based on eternity but why is it important to many here, to be remembered?
Isn't it enough that your everyday lives are filled with blessings, or if you prefer, enjoyable experiences?
What about love? Loving and being loved? You can't parle that into a reason for being?
What about family, the wonder of having children, friendships, eating good food, drinking good beverages, having a comfortable bed in which to sleep? What about sunny days, blue skies, spectacular scenery, starry nights and meteor showers? What about laughter, adventure, and working at what you love? Music, literature, good movies, and the rest of the arts?
So, all is passing, but it's here now - and so are you. Why not embrace this?

Before I call it a night or before anyone messes it up, just want to say that this has been a very solid thread. Lots of respect and great points from all sides. I'm not particularly vocal about these types of things, but like my dad, once you get me going, I do really enjoy talking about the spirit and the spiritual, and I've enjoyed this thread.

My man No8 sounds like a Zen Buddhist at heart.

I try my very best but there is temptation at every corner. That's all we can do in this life is try our best and if that's not good enough so be it. Any creator of mine would recognize that his child is troubled and he tried his very best with what he had. In my eyes that would be enough to enjoy the afterlife or whatever comes next for us. As they say, when one chapter ends, another begins. I don't know about y'all but I want to keep writing.

This was exactly where I was at before I acknowledged that I was agnostic. I think it is a fine belief to hold, nonetheless.

Thanks a lot man, I started his thread looking for exactly that. I didn't want this to be about religion. It's about a human and his creator or lack there of in some people's beliefs. This has been a very healthy and mature thread. Thank you everyone

It's about all of that, for me at least. I try to appreciate the now, I try to fulfill my personal goals, but also what I think my parents and beyond want. I want to leave a lasting impression on my family. It's about being remembered by the people closest to me. Being remembered positively, because that's a sure sign that I lived the life I wanted to live.

I'd rather find out than read all of that shite you just posted.

Then you shouldn't have posted in this thread at all

Posted on 8/31/16 at 1:18 am to Titus Pullo
It's a good thread for anyone.

If you think about it, your goal in life is to make as many people sad as possible when you die.

You're welcome to stick around if you would like to talk about the thread and its contents!

Well shite, that's morbid and accurate.

I think most people have wondered how many people would be at their funeral. I have.
Now is the time to think about beyond that.

How so?
The better person you are, the more people that grieve at your funeral. It's a sobering angle. We all subconsciously hope a lot of people are sad at our death.

I would love to say the Eulogy at my own funeral...
