Probably 2-2.5 years if first offense

Good time and parole rules seem to change every year, and there's programs for an inmate to reduce his time, and then I hear DOC is so swamped they're giving good time or parole to everyone but murderers and sex offenders. So I give clients a ballpark estimate with the clear caveat that I could be totally wrong.

First time offender, non-violent offender sentenced to five years hard labor? Not saying I agree or disagree with the sentence but typically they are given 5 years suspended sentence with 5 years probation and restitution. Must be in St. Tammany or Judge Ellender in Terrebonne

Non-violent offenses are only doing 40%. Good time is not dependent on prior offenses, just the current offense. 10 time felons can get good time. Plus you should consider all the other credits they could get with different classes and programs (can earn up to 365 days). With credits, 40%, and good time, an offender serving 5 years could technically get released in 1. They could even be out before they are parole eligible (after 1/4th the sentence is served). It's messed up in a way, but DOC is way over crowded and has been revamping.
Just keep your nose clean and do your pre-release classes and you'll be out in a little under a year.
