This. Even if you do install the springs correctly, they must be balanced - otherwise, there will be more trouble.

it's 4 quarter turns per vertical feet, +/- 2, i.e., for a 7' door, 28 quarter turns +/- 2, still wouldn't do it without someone with experience there to show you how, and possibly call 911 for you

..all I have to say is that if you're a guy and can't change garage door torsion springs by yourself, then you should go ahead and Caitlyn Jenner yourself.
Aside from it being so damn hot in the garage that you could cook food in your crotch, you know, we call it crotch pot cooking, it was one of the easiest DIY projects.
