I guess it is, but if you are getting the lights and set up for indoor, hydro is like growing plants on steroids.

Yes, but it eliminates the heat issue and is cheaper over the long run. This is why all the dispensaries are switching to LED. I know quite a few personal growers and many of them are switching.
Honestly you can use fluorescent combined with a window. I got about 2 ounces out of that grow. Not the quality of HPS or LED, but dead easy and cheap.
I swear by hortilux MH/HPS. Or sunlight. Hard to beat free perfect sunlight. But, a controlled environment does. I have expierience with the gorilla GT, 1000 & 600w air cooled. 18/6 then to 12/12 then to 10/14.
Best soil imo (unless making your own) is fox farm ocean forest. Now some people make a mix with another fox farm soil called "happy tree frog" Or just "happy frog". I never have done that, or felt the need to. Some believe OF is too hot of a soil. Never gave me an issue.
Ferts. Fox farm liquid trio. Grow big. Big bloom and tiger bloom with the powder cha ching and beastie blooms.
Also kept the Water PH at 6-6.2 at best. (tap water, fill it in a gallon milk jug and leave it out to breathe for a few days.)
That is my tomato prep. Now there are different types of tomatoes. Some plants can grow tall some short and bushy. I enjoy a decent hybrid.
Which also in its self is something a person has to take into account when growing vegetables. Not every grow is the same.

I use happy frog over ocean forest. I have had great luck with it.
I mix it with a good bit of vermitculite to improve drainage. I also do a layer of compost at the bottom that is 50^ vermiculite.
I use age old grow and bloom for my nutes. I generally don't worry too much about the PH of the water assuming my soil PH is ok, right now its a little high but I am about to harvest so I am not goign to frick with it.

How do you like your amber/cloudy ratio?
Posted on 9/21/15 at 2:36 pm to Hawkeye95
I am curing my lemon skunk. So far, great. I have a nice blue dream about a month away from harvest. Can't wait for that.
I used organic Nectar for the Gods nutes. Coco for my medium. And I us a 1000 watt HPS for flowering.
I can't justify spending over a grand for the led. I can replace the bulb every year for 60 bucks.

I like mine mostly amber. I have ADHD, and I cannot slow down. Nothing makes me slow down, so I like a real heavy indica matured for a long time.

I used Fox Farm nutes and soil on my first grows. Not a bad line. The soil is a little hot, don't feed to much for a few weeks.
I heard Monsanto bought them out, so I decided to try another line.

Exactly. lol. I mean.. that's a whole new setup if you want a 6 plant 600w veg room/tent as you're flowering in another. Double production.
With a nice adjustable ballast.

I bought a solistek dimmable digital ballast from Costco of all places. The one with the remote control. Very nice.

I haven't heard anything about that or have even looked into it. There are some great soil recepies out there though.
I'm a Big fan of using guano and earthworm castings and try to overall keep everything as organic as possible.
