I'm not saying either were examples of perfect living, but I could see plenty of positives.
One, world class athlete, voice of his people, respected globally, to the point of being invited to be the final torch bearer of an Olympic ceremony, appeared to live by a set of principles (agree or disagree with them) regardless of the popularity of those principles.
The other, a world class musician (if you say otherwise, you either don't know Prince or don't understand music), respected in his profession as a real genius, performed on some of the largest stages to some of the largest crowds, also a man that lived life his way, right or wrong.
Both wealthy, influential, recognized, etc. beyond what most on this board can imagine.
So, it's silly to attempt to diminish either's place as a role model. Maybe you don't choose to emulate them, but failure to recognize their status as that is willful ignorance.

Harsh, Hoodoo. Very harsh! Don't mess with the sentimental meme.
