They actually had a segment on a discovery channel show a few days ago on how they got that barge and mess out of the water. Pretty cool operation

That's what made Houston. Galveston was all set up to be the "main" city down here and when they got crushed, Houston dug the ship channel and started growing while Galveston rebuilt. Investors were more open to investing in the more protected area of Houston rather than the Galveston area that was just destroyed and basically defenseless.

They have some small policies. It's not industry standard for sure. "self insured" more or less used to describe company with small or non-standard policies and Does not have a IAP with a Spill Management team. Typically creates quite the cluster

I assumed the same thing. I've always been told they were self insured, but they must have some "disaster/over so much money" insurance.
