I cannot believe there are people this dumb. They are not adding water to fuel tanks to increase profit. It’s plain and simple. Water and gas do not mix, therefore you cannot dilute gas with water. Dumbass
you have no idea what you are even talking about a lot of tanks now have filtration systems with water separators

instead, that's probably not far enough out of spec to cause glaring issues.

This reminds me of an older friend who used to race powerboats in the 1960's and 1970's. A friend with Texaco gave him something to use as an additive which was never detected by officials but gave him and estimated extra 5 or so HP to make him faster in his class. He never knew what was given to him as the additive

They use racing gas at the motocross races. Its smells awesome. I would put in my lawnmower just for the smell if I could afford it.

Water and ethanol do mix though. It's how I test to see if the ethanol-free gas is legit.

So you make a valid point there, but it doesn't lead me to conclude that an independent filling station's owner would never be dishonest with what he's selling. It makes me think that he'd pick a different adulterant.
Fuel and water does not mix. It just doesn’t. You can’t dilute it. The pumps would either pull straight gas or straight water. Not both. It can’t do that.

Mine is a banshee, with 185 pounds of compression in each cylinder which necessitates the need for high octane fuel.
A compression test doesn’t tell you the compression ratio. There are a ton of other variables with an engine… especially a two stroke.
I know a guy who flat tracked a Honda 250R with a Duncan Racing top end and ran 93 fuel with Klotz oil and never had an issue. And that friken thing would outrun a CBR 600 in a drag through three gears.
