Vinyl wrapping a vehicle's exterior trim...

Anyone here ever do such a thing? My, wife's, car is a 2009 and the bright bits around the side windows are starting to get smoky / hazy. I'd like to replace them with OEM shadow line trim that came blacked out on the sports models, but holy crap it's expensive. It also doesn't age well since back then they didn't make it matte like they do now. Thinking of just wrapping mine matte and calling it good enough.
Anyone here ever done such a thing? Is it difficult? I think since I've never done it I'd want to remove each piece to make sure I get a good wrap, but I've also never removed trim from a vehicle so damaging it is real possibility. I could get a used trim piece if I messed something up, I'd wrap it anyway.
Thoughts?

They did this at my old job. They would wrap everything. Body panels, sideview mirrors, and all the trim pieces. It was all done on the vehicle, not taking pieces off and doing it. And supposedly it peels off easily. There was some process of cleaning involved and removal was sped up by using heat to loosen it. So if you mess up, just hit it with the hair dryer and peel off.

Yes, it is very common. There should be plenty of options for you to get this done. The movies do this a lot as it is cheaper to wrap than paint the car.

I'm more worried about the razor blade work than getting it perfect the first time. I'm scared to be zipping around the paint with something so sharp.
Eta: paying someone would probably be smarter, but I'd like to be able to change it up if I don't like it. I figure it would take a bit to learn, but then redoing it in say a brushed metal finish would be pretty simple.
