Venmo personal data request

Anybody get a request from Venmo to log on to app and give additional personal data? Is it legit?

Venmo is required by federal law to collect certain information from all its users that have access to a balance. We sent this email to let you know that we need to verify your identity. If we are unable to verify your identity by the date specified in the email you received, we will not be able to continue offering you the use of a Venmo balance for making payments. You would also still be able to make payments to others, but you’ll only be able to fund payments with a linked debit card, credit card, or bank account.

Something to consider is that they have your email/phone number paired up. No telling who they bought it from but your info is being passed around.

I get those from Venmo and PayPal. I tell them to just keep the account locked. It’s never been locked.

Vimeo is usually used for drug dealers. I wouldn't trust anything to do with this service or you dealing drugs, or you doing drugs, or do you want to do drugs? If so please expand explain in great detail about things you're looking for but do not give personal data to drug dealers drug dealers are very dangerous, drug dealers are shady, and I'm not just talking about skin color.
