Exactly. It is a project that if done correctly would teach adolescents how to think critically and search for factual analysis of situations rather than forming opinions based solely off of an emotional response. This is the type of stuff that should be taught in school.

ISIS is representative of one of the biggest political problems in the world right now. We should be teaching the youth to think about these problems, not ignore them because some people consider the topic too sensitive.

Because you are too much of a pussy to allow the discussion of a politically sensitive topic, and you aren't able to recognize your hypocrisy. That's PC.

take last night with that march on tigerland shite on FB

i had multiple friends (educated, smart, etc) ask me if i was serious or joking when i was trolling the group

why? because i understand their thought process, language, intent, etc. why do i? because i whole-heartedly loathe their movement/arguments

i can't adequately sit at the table where the war on ideas is going on without fully understanding my ideological opponent

You have to understand a position that you disagree with to understand why you disagree with it. Otherwise you are just thinking what other people are telling you to think.

The objective of this assignment is clearly to get some sort of rudimentary understanding of how groups like ISIS form and what makes them grow. Or at least to get the youths thinking about it. How can we expect future generations to combat this sort of stuff if they don't understand what makes it grow?

Maybe some think they are too young, but I don't think that is giving them enough credit.

Recruiting for ISIS can land you in jailor put you on watch lists. I wonder if this brilliant teacher contacted DHS, FBI or the local school board to find out if it was within their authority to put their students in possible criminal trouble prior to this assignment.
