UPPP Surgery Recovery

TL;DR
UPPP surgery was a resounding success. My surgeon kicks arse and I have a mutant healing factor.
Well, I heard all the horror stories about how bad this was going to be, but none have come through. I'm off the pain meds for the most part and the bleeding has stopped after about three days. Most was gone after about 24 hours. I stuck to broth, yogurt and smoothies for the first day and a half but went to soft vegetables and meats day two and three. Hell, I even ate some cheese and crackers on day three (though it was the first time I've chewed until 22 in years). Sour and salty stuff has been no problem whatsoever.
Now, in the same vein, I did have a slight relapse today, but not related to the pain. I just lost steam and got light headed and weak from trying to do too much to fast. I guess the whole being able to breath and the steroids made me feel better than I was. I need to remember my body is still working on healing up.
Still going to take four more days off before getting back into the swing of things work wise.
Some things I learned from my first surgery in years.
Safety is a big deal these days. I must have been asked my name, birthdate and allergies at least a dozen times.
Hospital moomoos and shower caps still suck. How about some velcro bitches?
Anesthesia nightmares suck! Those things are terrifying, especially when you wake up in a bright room, not wearing your contacts full of masked figures surrounded by soft white halos. I was pretty sure I was dead for a good two or three minutes.
Drugs are great mmmmkay?
Your choice of surgeon is everything. My surgeon got me in early, did a great job on my as he put it "Gnarly as all hell tonsils." Apparently, chronic tonsilitis and strep throat leads to tons of stones and scar tissue. Uvula removal was no problem. I did bleed a lot from my nose from about 24 hours, but that was expected.
What impressed me the most was that he called me about 5PM just to check on me after I got home. I was not expecting that at all. So, if you're thinking about any kind of sinus surgery in the Birmingham, AL area, I highly recommend Jim Livingston at Shelby ENT.
Last thing, my doctor (two actually) said I would be able to breath better and would sleep better than I have in 10 years after getting this procedure done -- even with the blood and swelling. I didn't believe them. I was wrong. It's true. I feel like a new man. I only wish I'd gotten the procedure sooner.

Glad it is going well for you. That is the most painful surgery in the ENT realm.

Yeah, I was fully expecting the worst, and I would be lying if I didn't think the other shoe was going to drop soon, but it hasn't manifested itself in day two or three. I'm having no problem swallowing -- though it took a day or so to get used to the new "form" of my throat and there was the sensation of it going back up my nose. But today, I've eaten a salad, had a protein smoothie and some chicken noodle soup. I'm not eating chips or steak yet, but I think I'll be capable, if not willing, to do that next week.
The ability to sleep and wake up filling rested is the best part so far, even with the blood boogers in the nose each morning.
