When my parents' Lab died in 2018, I figured it would be their last dog. they were getting up there in years and my mother was in the beginning stages of what turned out to be alzheimers. But she absolutely insisted they get another puppy. It couldn't have worked out better. He was so affectionate and very protective of my mother. He never let her out of his sight. When she eventually moved into a nursing home and had forgotten most everybody else, she still would ask about the dog. My dad lasted two more years after my mother died and he was a faithful companion for my dad too.

I have him now and he's lying down at my feet as I type this. I've had some other people offer to take him but there's no way I'm giving him up. For the rest of his life he gets the best of everything.
