As said we, as bank employees, not the technicians. That way they can service the machine without any currency in them.
I don’t understand why Capital One employees wouldn’t do this because the technicians are only worried about getting the machine back in service and not about their surroundings.

Most large banks don’t service their own ATMs. They have a third party such as Loomis or Brinks handle all cash replenishment tasks. Some locations are required to have a guard no matter what but the majority is a judgement call. The biggest issue is getting a reliable guard service to meet the technician on site for service calls.
