As a child, Baton Rouge had a rural pace and feel to itself. Some where along the way an urban manner encroached and those two don't necessarily mesh...hence, what one has today

The same can be said of Katy, TX. What does that have to do with the poor infrastructure of BR?

Shreveport gets beat up on this site on the reg but it's layout is beautiful. It's only slightly less populated than BR (larger if you include Bossier) and it has none of these issues. Even roads that are heavily trafficked like Youree are no big deal because there are so many ways to get in and out of it that you don't even have to drive the length of it to get where you are needing to go.

Houston has a vastly underrated public transit system with good bus coverage and expanding rail development that actually gets people to the major job centers. I know the sizes of the metro area are vastly different and BR needs massive highway investment, but the fact is BR cannot road build itself out this situation and needs to think about multi-modal solutions that help people access downtotwn, the universities, and other job centers.

Don't believe the older guard realized the shift and failed to respond
