Transportation Hypothetical (Not for BR's Superstitious)

I was recently reading about the I-35 bridge collapse that happened in Minnesota. I started wondering, rather morbidly, what would happen if the I-10 bridge would collapse in a similar fashion. Obviously, the death toll would be in the hundreds due to the height of that bridge and the river's undertow below, but I was wondering in terms of the strain this would put on BR's already congested roadways, local and national economy, and the effects of everyday life on people that live on both sides of the river. How would you imagine this scenario playing out?
