I mistyped. Some 14 codes, and very few. You are losing it dude. Here you go:

Agreed Nomad.

Also

In the real world these agencies aren't trying to show who has the most jurisdiction by taking over an investigation from one another. It's more of the opposite with each trying to dump an investigation onto the other whenever they can.

This is absolutely true. Troopers haven't intervened since the civil rights movement, when they actually did use the superior authority they have to override parish and local authorities. Most metro area police departments and sheriffs offices have the ability to conduct quality investigations. troopers are there to help when something happens in a rural and small parish and they request it.

Just being honest . I honestly believe that is where most people in this thread have drawn that information from. I do KNOW that the state can take over any investigation it wants but it almost never happens as you mentioned above. I have actually seen it happen.

It's been a while since I read up on the issue. Probably because it almost never comes up.

But I believe the Sheriff having the most authority has something to do with him being an elected official.

Regardless of the above statement, in the real world agencies will sometimes yield to other agencies but that doesn't necessarily mean that the are legally required to.

I agree with this 100%.

That could be true. I honestly don't know. I do know I have read, can't remember where, that troopers jurisdiction exceeds that of the Sheriff's dept. I can likely find it if I pull out my ancient academy books.

Im simply saying every trooper I halve ever met is cocky but a consummate professional.

I cant say the same for BRPD or parish police.

A lot of them are nice, a few are dicks, a decent number are professional...but there are too many young bad eggs for me to go against someone I know to be an upstanding young man.

Now maybe the liquor got the best of him, but until that is proven I presume he is innocent.

DanTiger and his arguement explaining jurisdiction with Wikipedia citation deserves its own thread. I got a good laugh out of it.

So much fail, so much...

As for the ten foot tall bullet proof Trooper, I hope he has a creative imagination. I hear it is going to be a tough act to spin the details of this incident into anything other than "yeah, I was drinking and I fricked up Colonel."

Really? There are no sources online I could find in a brief search. Feel free to look yourself, if you wish. I have paperwork from the state at home that backs up what I have told you. I am not going to scan it and put it on here for all to read. Sorry.
