Tires bust on landing because the force of landing is so great, right? The tires function as shock absorbers.

Well, what is there to absorb the shock of landing if the tire isn't there? What if other tires bust on landing because the force will be more heavily distributed to those tires? I get having redundancies, but just because there is a redundancy doesn't mean a failure is acceptable.

The hits just keep coming

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Passengers were evacuated from a United flight at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Friday morning, according to an airport spokesperson.

The spokesperson said everyone was evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.

According to the FAA, after landing at IAH, United Airlines Flight 2477 from Memphis rolled onto the grass while exiting onto the taxiway around 8 a.m.

The 81-minute flight was routine, and touched down in Houston on runway 27 at 7:58AM, well ahead of its scheduled 8:28AM arrival. Unfortunately things then quickly took a turn for the worse. The plane exited at the very end of the runway, but somehow ended up in the grass, with the left rear gear collapsing.

I will take an occasional tire falling off and shitty passengers over a major domestic airliner going down every other year like we saw in the 70’s-90’s.

Wondering if these now common reports of Airline snafus (shoddy equipment fails, sloppy maintenance, tarmac accidents, DEI pilot news) were always the case -- though largely un-reported...

OR actually

Just designed sabotage and "The New Norm" in the Airline Industry? (aka part of the Scorched Earth)
