It is probably a pressure limitation.
Some of the smaller pumps won't go over 100#.
An RV for example, can take up to 110-120#

Not Metairie, but the Shell at Jones Creek and George O'Neal takes credit cards. However, the parking garage at the Hampton Inn Hotel in downtown Baton Rouge does NOT take credit/debit cards, but an ATM is conveniently locted by the gate that will gladly give you your own cash for 3.75.
