So presumably, he did his job for anywhere from 30-35 years and retired? Yup...sounds pretty worthless to me.

What's perplexing to me is the same folks that complain about Joe Blow actually retiring and receiving a pension are the ones who complain that there are no jobs -- specifically because Joe Blow won't retire and thus nobody can be promoted up, opening entry-level jobs.

This whole post is just ridiculous. You should feel bad.

I know it's crazy to think that someone who held a state job for 30 years can be a lazy piece of overpaid shite, but try to at least entertain the idea.

Thats what I don't get. These ignorant frickers in here always leave out that these are employee funded pensions. Jesus. Force a guy/gal to pay to a fund for 30 years, and expect them not to draw for retirement? They just sound jelly.

So if someone starts working for the city or state at the age of say 22 retires at 52. Is it right that they make basically what they were making in overtime, for a year, for the rest of their lives?. How much did he pay into a system that's gonna pay him over 100 k a year guaranteed for the rest of his life?

My point is taking the highest paid 5 years and using that to base the remainder of his life pay??? The dude was a fricking low tier cop?? This is not a sustainable system. If he received at say 65 sure but we have 50 year olds out here retiring like this bozo because they worked overtime their last few years to boost their pension. Is this right? this system will and has already begun to make tax payers upset and is crippling city and state governments . i just dont see this as maintainable in the future.
