I've thought that every time I see an Arab cabbie stuck waiting for a gap in the crowd at a crossing on Bourbon during Mardi Gras. So easy to put an explosive in a trunk.

A few weeks before Essex, an arsonist torched the Rault Center, killing four women who had to jump from a hair salon on the 15th floor, as well as two men who died in a stairwell. That was a dark and traumatic time for Nola.

That happened around the same time the Zebra Killings were going on. There's evidence that both and other incidents were part of a national terror effort on the part of black militant groups, but it just sort of went away.
