Sounds like a bad movie they used to show on TBS after Braves games in the 80's.

Add 1/3 cup peppermint oil and 1 cup unscented laundry detergent to a gallon of water in spray pump. Spray where you think they are and all around the area. Try to find out where they are entering from the outside and spray that area too. Repeat every other day for a week. It may take a few weeks for them to leave but they'll leave.

Jeezus, just go up with a friggin can of 25' wasp spray and hit them during the coldest part of the day. As long as you soak the nest and kill the queen, any remaining ones that can't find you and get slapped, will just leave and end up dead anyway. It's not like a hornets nest or a beehive where you have so many of them that their rotting will smell.

Every year in the colder months( when we would get a few warm days) we would have hundreds of Asian beetles (like ladybugs) flying around in our house. I tried everything to seal them out. I sealed doorways and every spot I could think of in an attempt to get rid of them.
I finally went into the attic during the daytime and saw some tiny spaces around the brick fireplace to the outside where light was coming in. I got some expanding foam and filled the voids. While up there I noticed a few hollow voids that went an inch or so deep into the bricks. Sealed them up too when I saw that they were chock full of the beetles.
Fast forward two years and I haven't seen a beetle in the house since.

Get a 1 gallon garden sprayer and buy some Demon WP or Cyper WSP(generic) mix up and spray those pesky wasps. Both are 40% cypermethrin. Safe around pets and animals. Its what the pros use when they come out to treat your house.

Those aerosol permethrin bug bombs work great, but you better be sure there is no spark/pilot light to ignite the flammable gas given off by those aerosol cans. Seriously it could blow off the roof of your house. A furnace or hotwater heater in the attic could lead to devastation.
