Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Will be there for a week and a half for work.
Staying in Uniondale, NY for reference.

first of all, you'll be "on" Long Island, not "in" Long Island.
There are a handful of decent dive bars, Mr. Berry's and Effin Gruven
you can go see the Amintyville House.
South Shore is where the real people are, north shore is where the people who send their kids to Tulane are.
Take the train to Brooklyn most nights TBH.

First of all:
My bad on the "in" thing
Second of all:
I appreciate the help.
Your good peeps. Drac.
I gotta drive into Brooklyn tomorrow for work. What's the drive like?

Depends on what time you're leaving, it's bad but not off the charts bad, give yourself 45 mins. I'd take the train if possible.
LI is basically a gigantic suburb of NYC. I had fun there but I was with locals.

Will it be too early for shows at the Jones Beach Ampitheatre? Cool place.
And there's always NYC, which isn't too far of a train ride away.

Take the LIRR into the City.

from what I can tell the locals like to go over to Brooklyn (north or south parts) and throw trash everywhere they possibly can.

Did you to the Amityville house while you were there?
Are there people living in it or is it a tourist attraction?

Look up the HS lacrosse schedule. Really worth much more than the price of admission.
