Depends on the place, aka employees.
Five Guys has them and have yet to have a problem. Tried once at BK and, as expected, it wasn't very good.

I can't stand them. Whenever I go to a BK and they have one of those machines, I make the girl at the register get me a coke from the fountain dispensor behind the counter.

IMO it takes too long for people to get their drink. The old fountains had fewer options and more than one person could use them at a time.
