When the decision to build Zephyr Field was built in the early/mid 90s, the East Bank of Jefferson Parish was booming with families, lots of kids and soccer moms and travel ball dads who would be the ones to really support the team. The city itself was a bit of a war zone (those who think crime is bad today... today is Disney World compared to the mid 90s) and many of those families would not take the kids to the city for stuff like that. This is the same time frame where Metry Mardi Gras had like 15-16 parades.

Since then, Metry has gotten older. Not as many kids and families. A lot of the natural audience is gone. And the team has SUCKED for many years, has a crappy management, and isn't doing the things needed to drive attendance.

It's always been said that minor league ball requires a whole lot to drive attendance. For the first decade, they didn't really have to worry about that. When they did, the couldn't do it. This franchise has been dying for at least a decade.
