No they aren’t. Some contractors MAY drive, But for the most part, FedEx ground drivers are paid a fixed daily rate by the contractors who Own the route. I drove for FedEx ground for five years and never owned a route. FedEx Express is corporate and pay is basically the same except that they offer insurance and newer vehicles.

Just got the phone with these asshats. I shipped an item back to a business that I purchased something from that I was returning. Not sure how it happened but FE is requiring signature required which I didn't ask for when I shipped the item and now it's a total CF.

Delivered to your address does not mean delivered to your front door.
The metric for the drivers is number of deliveries. If they can cut seconds off of each delivery per day, that is what they will do.
