In Alabama age of consent is 16 EXCEPT for school employees then it is 19.

There is a separate law that deals with teachers here - it became a felony in 2010.

She wasn't charged with statutory rape but with the "sexual contact by a school employee with a person under the age of 19".

Found out today she is denying it happened and declined the school board's offer to resign. By state law, she is now on paid leave until the school completes an investigation.

Such a fricking mess.

Damn. I always think that there has to be some young, single baws in their 20s in these towns where these teachers are screwing students.
