I had to turn it off wbrz a few times when Sylvia would ask just a horrible uncomfortable question to the reporter or phone guest. The little sports guy interviews a sad old man who's wife is on dialysis. He says she's fine in great detail. The reporter starts to sign off and Sylvia interrupts him to make him re ask how the wife is doing

I believe national coverage has been poor.
No kidding.
I was always told that if it bleeds, it leads. CNN has not interrupted their normal scheduled bash-trump fest to cover the flood after Saturday. That may be for the best....this was the network that actually suggested that a missing plane may have flow into a black hole at one point. They are not trustworthy anyways.
The Weather Channel was just about the only national outlet covering this other than the occasional report on Fox, which is still heavily covering politics. Nothing on MSNBC and barely a mention on the broadcast networks. Fox and the broadcast networks did cover the wild fire in California and the riots in Wisconsin (both are also newsworthy). I mostly find the Weather Channel useless, but during this disaster they did actually attempt to explain the river stages a few times and they showed a lot of footage of the flooding real time.
I tuned into Tigerdroppings and WAFB for real info, along with other social media like twitter, facebook, etc. Tigerdroppings especially was invaluable.
I think Donna Brit needs to retire along with Dianne Deaton (or whoever the morning female lead is). Other than that, WAFB has a great team IMO. They did a fantastic job after the terrorist/shooting of the police officers last month as well. I do think local media could have done better job warning/explaining to people about the back flow flooding risk. I think some folks thought they were in the clear after the rain stopped.

National news (fox) had blown up on their home page about 100 homes being evacuated from wild fires in California yet Louisiana had over 20,000 people evacuated. WTF
