re: Taking the Project Management (PMP) Certification. How was the Test?

No, I just laugh. You come in here trashing a certification, which is your right. Then proceed to belittle my work and what I do? Nah podnuh. Managing procurement and implementation from the public sector is exhaustive and has very little rewards. The PMP I'd universally recognized. Just because I don't use it in your sector , doesn't mean I wouldn't benefit.
But according to you, I'm just some dumbasses paper pusher. Yeah, ok.

If what you did was so meaningful and recognized, oil and gas would have sucked your dick and brought you in by now if you apply so much like you say you do.

I'm 28, dumbass. Quit acting like I'm some fricking mid career drop out.

I didn't say you were, but something's obviously not right. I've worked for like 6 different companies and applied for tons of jobs and went on 100s of interviews. I can recognize when something's not right with an approach.
Not flaming, just saying.

What's my approach Dill. I have six plus years of experience. Been responsible for literally hundreds of millions of dollars of state funds by 28. But something is wrong with my approach?

In my experience an MBA is a waste of time as well. Of course, I think the real measure is the individual.

You work as A but apply for B but try to get bullshite certifications that won't help you make the switch. Ok, I'm done. Sorry you are mad.

Definitely not a waste of time in some fields, in other fields you're on point.

Project Management is a big part of strategic procurement planning, bro. That's executive decision level.

If either of you flakes were worth a shite, you'd be fighting off recruiters instead of trying to justify a lack of talent....

No. Procurement is a small part of project management. That's the problem!
Posted on 7/28/14 at 6:10 pm to dillpickleLSU
Why can't I just be good at the budgeting and procurement planning portions. That's all I care about. Why start a huge fricking deal running me down.

I just like busting his chops but I really was trying to give good advice
Posted on 7/28/14 at 6:10 pm to Cajun Revolution

That was a little of it, but I have had bad experiences with PMPs

The best advice I can give both of you is get out there and expose yourselves. Make descision, don't throw everything on your managers shoulders. Take on more than expected; don't overload yourself though. And for Christ sake, spend time in the field!!! The more application/field knowledge you have; the better manager you will be.
Facetime with clients is also important, don't be a douche; be a likable guy.

Couldn't have been said better. Nothing beats field experience.
