Haven't been to Destin/Ft Walton since 2019. Interestingly enough, we did go eat at Tailfins when we were there. Food was ok - not great, but not bad either. Beer was cold, and upstairs bar and patio had great views of the water. My favorite place is Stewby's on Okaloosa Island. They had a deep fried soft shell crab sandwich when I was there and it was outstanding.

Ruth's Chris in Destin is excellent. Emeril's is good. Even Tommy Bahamas serves good food.

Is Cantina Laredo still popular? I think the food is ok but usually it’s a very long wait during peak times.

I lived there for 10+ years.. I know destin inside out

There is a small handful of decent restaurants. The rest all suck and rip you off.

If you think you are an eating fresh gulf fish - you are sadly mistaken.

The only consistent quality restaurants in destin (proper) are McGuires and Dewey Destin’s - As much as I love Boshamps - it’s always hit or miss and extremely overpriced.

Last time I was there - the Oysters Boshamps were $37 for a dozen and they were tiny! What the frick.

In the 10+ years I have lived there.. At least 5 people I know who visited me where we all went out to eat different times/different years got severe food poisoning by eating contaminated seafood

So before talking shite because y’all visit the area once or twice per year - you have no idea wtf y’all are talking about.

Oh I’m sure y’all want the names of the restaurants where the food poisoning happened

- Harbor Docks
- LuLu’s
- Backporch
- Surf Hut
- Fish On (old Callaghan’s)

The ONLY seafood I will eat in destin is the fish I catch and take it to a restaurant for them to cook it - out of all of the restaurants I have done this - Dewey’s has by far the best “you hook it, we cook it service.”

Used to love going out and catching a redfish or go out deep and catch some grouper and take it to Dewey’s (harbor side) for them to cook it up in the different ways

- fried
- Bronzed
- Blackened

With fries, coleslaw, corn on the cob, potatoes and a Bloody Mary

I highly suggest doing this after you go fishing. It’s worth it and top quality - and cheap as hell (especially if you have a big party to feed)

I wont be back till October aint no way im going during the summer. We just got back a couple weeks ago from Destin.

Niceville and Pensacola

What places in Niceville do you like?

The last place we ate it in Niceville was Wharf 850. Was pretty good.

Live in Navarre so don't get that way much since retirement.

We go to eat in Pensacola periodically - usually off Palafox somewhere.
