How big of a clusterfrick is this going to be for me?

I tried using my brother’s old router. When the Cox tech showed up, he said it was still attached to my brother’s account, and that my brother would have to get it removed from his account before they could set it up under my account. He set us up with one of their routers temporarily.

Am I going to be able to switch the router easily, or am I going to have to deal with a tech coming out to my house again to fix this issue?

Nah you don't need a tech. I moved recently and bought my own router and returned my rental. You can call tech support on the phone. The only thing they need from you is s/n and MAC address.

all you have to do is call on the phone and they walk you through the setup.

they need the number from the tag on the router, its sort of like a phone number so they need to enter it into their computer so it accepts the connection

thats why they couldnt do it while it was still registered to his account
