He wasn't selling CDs. He was selling weed. In 2009 and 2016.
Right. The crate of CDs was his "front" business. Nobody makes money selling CDs on the street in the 21st Century in the U.S.
But folks do pretend to sell CDs in order to sell something else. Now, the fact that selling weed should be legal is irrelevant. He was a convicted felon carrying a gun. He brandished the gun to chase off the homeless guy who was begging for money/weed. The cops came and he knew he was in trouble. He fought with the cops, while being a convicted felon with a gun.
Play stupid arse games, win stupid arse prizes. While I think the cops may have overreacted, I'm basing that on watching a few seconds of film. I'm not basing it on a real time struggle with a convicted felon that the taser has failed and my partner shouts, "Gun." Putting myself in the officer's shoes, maybe I shoot him under those circumstances, too.
This shooting had nothing to do with race. It had everything to do with Alton Sterling being a felon and engaging in felonious activity.
