Why wouldn't cops drive drunk? Professional courtesy gets them out of the DUI. In general cops are some of the most aggressive and shitty drivers on the road. Especially when they are off duty (look for the thin-blue line sticker, that's the one that means 'hey cop, I'm a cop, too, so if you give me a ticket, my cops friends will tell your cop friends about it and then you won't have any cop friends.').
Yeah...ok. Nobody gets out of a dwi nowadays. MADD watches dwi prosecution from the beginning to the end. 95% of those thin blue line stickers are bs as well. If I see someone commit a traffic infraction with one of those sticker I pull them over damn near 100% of the time.

Prosecution doesn't happen if you don't get arrested in the first place.

do you really think so? seriously that many?
I guess it would make sense that guys who aren't cops but put those stickers on their vehicles would be pretty shitty drivers. Otherwise they wouldn't need the sticker.

Awesome.
Seriously if that shite's true - these guys with the stickers are giving cops a worse name than they deserve.

That is true but I am not going to ruin my career and life by letting someone drive away from a scene that is drunk no matter who they are. There is a record of every stop and license plate made and if inlet that guy go and he kills someone a mile down the road how will that look? Those generalizations are just wrong.

I assure you it is true. I cannot control the stickers that someone place on ther car.

I was wrong to make a blanket statement like that as there are no guarantees in any aspect of life. I am sure there are exceptions to every rule but It is extraordinarily rare in my experience.

I agree so long as your statement doesn't include not guilty verdicts

If you wanted to extend that sort of "professional courtesy" obviously the guy would have to have someone come pick him up or you'd bring him home or somewhere he could get a ride.

Yes - but cops have TRIED!
quote:
Police have attempted to prevent non-police from using such emblems by supporting laws that stop anyone but law enforcement officers from displaying such stickers, but these laws have been struck down.[4][5]

Yeah but you're a cop "Somewhere in Luziana", right? We're talking about BRPD.

People have attempted to pork camels as well. I have never seen such behavior and I would be disgusted if I did and I would certainly address it. Just because something happens in one, or a few, instance does not mean that is is common place.

You are correct. I cannot comment on the actions of the brpd as I have not worked there and know no one that does.

Any update on this?
I feel like its being suppressed by the BRPD for obvious reasons...

In Baton Rouge, $5,000 dollars will get you out of almost anything

That's what it cost me to get my BS DUI charge dropped, even though the only evidence was me passing a field sobriety test and refusing a breathalyzer.

You did not pass. Nobody passes. Sober people don't even pass. That's the point.
To the OP, it seems like this guy wasn't even in his district. Fishy.

Ted Kennedy wannabe
a woman he met at the bar told News 2 in an exclusive interview that she was in the front seat of the police cruiser. She asked to go for a ride, and he agreed.
"I thought I was going to die," said the woman, who asked she be identified as 'Betty Sue'.
