All statues of white people.
Microaggressions all of them.

agree but you have to understand this will take about 8 hours to remove, probably even longer. You can't just shut down one of the busiest intersections in the city for that long, especially on a weekday. I think it will be done this weekend with no formal announcement to public of it being planned. This is all info that I gained from my friend who works in DPW.

Especially with pending legal action.
What kind of legal action? didn't the city vote on removal of the statue. Who would be suing who?

There's been a federal lawsuit filed to keep the city from touching the statues. I understand it was filed by private civic organizations on the grounds that the statues are on the national register of historic places. I could be wrong about the specifics though.
It would be really funny (but completely expected) if a federal judge forces the city to put the statues back in place.

This just further gives the impression that this city gives zero shits about the will of the people. Further, that he doesn't have the decency to do this above board, but is forced to doing it when no one is looking like some thief in the night. This whole thing reeks. The people deserve better. I would start a campaign to recall Landrieu if he did this.
Eta2- edited for super duper run on sentence.

are they planning to take down all of the statues or just the ones pertaining to the civil war?

Just the ones "they" were told about. They do not know about the rest of the statues across New Orleans and the south.

They already said they will not be removed prior to the court case. But I thought the case was this week? Anyone know the court date?

Mayor Mitch Landrieu's administration has agreed not to remove four Confederate-related monuments from New Orleans' streets before a Jan. 14 hearing in federal court, public records show. Four organizations filed a lawsuit Thursday (Dec. 17) seeking to keep the monuments up, hours after the City Council voted 6-1 to remove the markers.
U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier issued an order Friday to move a hearing on the plaintiffs' motion for a temporary restraining order to Jan. 14. The hearing had been scheduled Monday. Barbier said the city "will take no action to remove the four monuments in question in the interim."

It would be really entertaining to watch them do it before court, only to find out they violated a court order. Not putting it past them to sneak it out in the middle of the night though.
