Not as bad as you might think. There was a citizen initiative amendment to the state Constitution in 1978 limiting property taxes.
They were still reasonably conservative in some areas, then. Reagan had just been governor and would go on to carry the state twice in Presidential elections over the next 6 years.
They get you with income and sales taxes, though, right?

Brian, 55, from Central says these damn millennials need to suck it up, stop buying Starbucks and watching their Netflix, and buy a starter home in a not so great area of town.

We live in L.A. but nowhere near the fancy areas. I’m assuming they have greater than $1.5M sunk into their starter home.
How the hell can people afford to live in Los Angeles? Is everyone just in debt up to their eyeballs? Trust fund babies? Drug dealers?
San Francisco I can understand with the high paying Tech Jobs, or Boston with the pharma jobs. But L.A.?

I always wonder this about all the people who perform unskiled work in major cities. Where/How are they living?

In North Alabama where I live you can find plenty of houses that are 2500-3000 sq feet and you will pay somewhere around 225k to 250k. Y'all are crazy paying that kinda prices for a house

Where do you expect to work in the restaurants, coffee shops, etc to live? They should have to suck it up and commute 2 hours each way to serve your entitled, arrogant arse?
When I was in college and working similar jobs, I had roommates.
For a while afterwards I continued to have roommates until I could afford better.
Is this not an option?
