They are posted up at the light leaving the Home Depot next to Goodwill.
Although, I think the cops have pulled the plug on them, bc it's been a few weeks since they have been there.

And yes... Before anyone asks, I created the group...
If you're interested in reading more about it look it up on Facebook. Searching for "St. Tammany Scammers" should get you to it.
I'm just a pissed off middle class guy who works hard to make a living for myself and my family and I'm tired of seeing these scammers mooching off society and seeing them take advantage of people who have good intentions but don't realize they're being scammed.

Cops aren't doing anything to them unless someone calls in to report an issue like a few weeks ago when one of them was drunk in Slidell and urinated on the side walk in plain view of traffic. When he was arrested he had $800 in cash on him...
The owner of the properties that Goodwill and Rouses are on erected signs saying "no panhandling" but it hasn't helped. They were there all last week although there hasn't been much action there this week.
We think they're taking advantage of the high traffic on the side streets in Slidell due to the construction on the I-10/12/59 split.

As I understand it there was a ruling that prevents law enforcement from running them off unless they are threatening someone or causing a disturbance. A couple of months ago they had "operation clean sweep " and arrested several under the I-10 overpass at Gause in Slidell. They found a ton of booze, beer up under the overpass , and the same in the woods nearby. That's where the money goes.
ETA they arrested them because I believe they were touching windows of cars

It's really bad in Seattle
About as common as the call girl card flicking mexicans on the Las Vegas Strip

They are almost non-existent in the city now. Haven't seen one in a few weeks.

I know NOLA made a big push to clean up the tent cities under the Riverbound Expy and the stretch of I-10 along Claiborne Ave. Could be why we're seeing an influx of new panhandlers on the Northshore.
Some of the commentors on my group have posted pictures of groups of men getting out of a truck at several different locations on different days.
Another commentor just a few days ago witnessed a man get into a car with Mississippi plates after working the Walmart on 190 in Covington then followed him all the way until the car got on the Causeway headed south. The same car was back at Walmart the next day with the same guy and a female companion.
They're just trucking them in here now.

I hadn't heard about that. But they need to do it again. Just last week I sat at a gas station near the Gause exit and watch several men working all 4 corners of the exit and the service road traffic light to the east of the exit. Even watched them "change shifts" as they each moved to another spot in the rotation from one corner to the next, to the next and so on. Then watched them all take a break and go into the gas station and come out with beers and bottles of alcohol in paper bags and sit on a curb on the gas station's property and drink and eat bags of chips until they got back up and went back to their corners.
It's sickening!

Update on your meteoric plunging weight ?
Posted on 6/25/15 at 11:07 pm to cdaniel76
It's why you don't give them money
Give them food of some sort like a granola bar or something. If they don't gladly accept it it means they are lying scammers.

Hit a plateau at just over 100lbs lost. Still hovering there. Working on some things now to kick start it back going again hopefully.

I might crush up a pack of ex lax and mix it into a batch of Rice Krispie treats and bring those around.
If it's not cash, they won't take it. The ones who will are the ones who really need it and that would suck to give a truly needy person the shits when he/she doesn't have a pot to shite in!
Seriously, the scammers have been seen throwing food and drinks back onto the cars of the people that give it to them. One man, a couple weeks ago, poured a bottle of water into a lady's car. The popular girl, Tammy is her name, will spit on people's cars if you refuse to give her any money after she's stopped by your side window and stared you down for an extended period of time. She's also been seen throwing change down to the ground as soon as the person who have it to her pulls away.
Last week someone gave a pack of just bought steaks to one of them who was standing by Rouses on 190 in Covington (I'm not sure what good a pack of raw steaks would have done for a truly homeless man???). As of 2 days ago when I passed, the steaks were still sitting on the curb.

That's what I'm doing. Actually going back to what Week 3 of post-surgery was... Soft veggies, creamed soups, sweet potatos. We'll see what that does.
Still haven't been able to bust through the mental barrier of exercise. I'm just a lazy frick and admit it. I just hate exercising.
Posted on 6/25/15 at 11:26 pm to cdaniel76
Well frick them. I know some STPSD. I'll tell them what ya said about the cars going back across the lake at the end of the day.
I was kidding about the RCT for the homeless. But it does work.

just go out and walk .. you don't have to do anything drastic like Crossfit or anything .. just start out slow and build up to walking 30 minutes a day ..

This. And, it kinda pisses me off when I'm stressed out trying to rush to different accounts to meet deadlines and I exit off the interstate and see these people. I'm thankful that its busy in my career, and i can think that there are many many jobs out there for these people if they really were broke and needed/wanted work.

Trust me, they already know. I and a couple of the admins on my page have some connections to some people on the inside who've been working on the issue behind the scenes. It doesn't help the public's perception that nothing's being done to stop it, but they are working on it and something it going to be brought up at the next parish council meeting.
One of my connections gave me some info about an incident that happened yesterday/last night with the popular two. No arrests were made but they did a welfare check on the lady, Tammy, because of something she said to a lady who stopped to talk to her yesterday and that lady called the cops and made a report. The cops went to the scamming couple's place and my connection told me their apartment is a run down piece of shite on the outside but inside has all brand new furniture, new tv's - some still in boxes - brand new high-dollar gas grill.
It's all a scam with those two and their world is about to get flipped upside down on them!
