Make sure spotify has not slipped into "Liked" mode. Had that happen a few times
Also I had to quit using the scramble mode because of what you said in the OP. One thing that would happen is that when I played in scramble mode it would play the songs in scrambled order on subsequent replays and also on my long playlist it would never finish playing all songs before it somehow got reset to beginning
Therefore I went back to standard order mode

frick all that streaming shite. Get a 512gb USB drive and put all your music on it. Problem solved.
