quote:Wish some of them would come in here and give us an update on whats going on internally with BRPD. I'm sure moral is low, but I'm curious on the mass exodus rumors.
We have a lot of BRPD baws on this board.

A lot of the younger officers need to get their feet wet to give them an edge at getting in the door elsewhere.
If I was a young officer who wanted to stay in law enforcement just maybe not BRPD. Use it as a training school where you get paid. It is a larger dept which hopefully gives you the opportunity to gain specialized skills.
Route I would take.
- look at skills needed to go into a division in another dept and salary range.
- if morale low focus on the goal that what drives you to stay positive.
- Work your butt off to look good to your supervisors and let your captain or shift sgt know you want to go in that division. People tend to help people out they like.
- Even ask if they can introduce you to the people in that division.
- Hopefully you then can move in that division by work ethic, knowing some people, and pulling extra shifts where you stand out.
- once get in that division learn from the most experience people there along with least. Got to learn the right and wrong way to do things.
- Then apply to dept or agency you want. In the interviews you have on the job experience along with the knowledge of the right and wrong ways to do things. Always leave in a positive manner as you may need a reference directly or indirectly. You also may never know when you might need said persons help, so do not burn bridges.
