Because my God gave us freewill. God gave us the ten commandments and God gave us Jesus to show the way. He does not control people, he does not answer prayers. He does not cause disasters and he does not cause or cure cancer. He does not pick who lives and who dies. He does not save one child because more people prayed for that child and let another die because nobody bothered to pray.
God created what we have, but he does not control our evolution and how we interact with his creation. That is up to us to follow the path he placed in front of us.
Man wrote the Bible, inspired by God and based off their culture at that time.
The Bible covers 4000 years of human history. The Earth is 4.5 billion years old. Humans in modern form have been around 200,000 years.
God is real, you will be closer to him when you realize he is much more than a book written by Man.
