Southern invites potential medical marijuana vendors to public meeting

Southern University is inviting potential vendors and the public to attend a town hall meeting about the university’s planned medical marijuana venture. The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at A.O. Williams Hall, 181 B.A. Little Dr.. In advance of the meeting, Southern is requesting that vendors email all questions to Dr. Janana Snowden at janana_snowden@suagcenter.com by noon on Tuesday. The questions will be addressed during the meeting. The state Legislature gave Southern and LSU the first rights of refusal to produce medical marijuana in Louisiana, and both universities are moving ahead with the ventures. LSU expects to hire a contractor for its medical marijuana program by June, with the first crop expected to be ready by the end of the year. Register to attend next week’s meeting.
