Ask:
How much will you pay me?
How many times can I not show up and still keep my job?
How much vacation time do I get?
Do you give ample warning before drug testing?
Can I have off next week, after I get paid?
Is it okay to coming in ever so slightly intoxicated from the night before?

Ask them if you can get a draw before you start work.

Tell them you want a sign on bonus.

What are some important questions to ask about their company??? It's welding career
General interview comments:
Don't bring up benefits or salary. If you don't have an idea what salary level is for your type of job, you can research this. If they are interested in you, they will give you the necessary scoop.
If applicable, do ask what are the advancement opportunities with said company. Research the company so you know something about them and you could say "I recently read ____________ and I am interested in a position because ____________" based on what you read.
Ask what the work shifts are... or any other job details (other than above) that are pertinent to you, times of shifts, etc.
Get a business card of the person interviewing you so you can email him a thank you for taking the time to meet with me to discuss a position with your company...
Tired. That's all I can think of for now.
Good Luck!

In order to give you an accurate answer I would have to ask you is it in a fab shop? Ship yard? Specialized pipe company? How good of a welder are you?
