Just wanted to bump this. I was on youtube this morning and I came across a video of the reuniting of these two guys. Pretty cool.

He wasn’t alone. He was with 2 or 3 other buddies and they didn’t notice he wasn’t with them till they got further down the mountain. That’s how fast it can happen.
In fact the buried snowboarder lost a friend to a tree well only a year earlier. So he and his friends were well aware of the dangers and had radios, avalanche training, and a beacon on them. Just bad luck and complacency will get you sometimes
