Here's a statement from the Slidell police chief:
Let me first state that the report and allegations being made on social media, and disappointingly enough by the news media, do not contain all of the facts surrounding the arrest or statements or interviews of the independent witnesses present at the time of the incident. LET ME BE CLEAR about some misleading information. This subject was NOT arrested for cursing his child, was NOT arrested for cursing at the officer and calling him a N***** (among other obscene words), he WAS arrested for Disturbing the Peace by causing multiple huge disturbances at a public place (Walmart) based on his actions AND by screaming (repeatedly) multiple derogatory and racial words. I am a huge supporter of people’s first amendment rights, but this was a lot more than just the use of obscene words. This subject went on a tirade, in a very public place, while in the presence of multiple children and families who were either trying to either shop or enjoy the Mardi Gras festivities (yes, this was also during a Mardi Gras parade). This type of behavior is simply NOT going to be tolerated.
I stand by my statement that there was probable cause for the charge of Disturbing the Peace (L.R.S. 14:103). Every citizen of Slidell should be able to go to Walmart (or anywhere in public) and not be exposed to someone acting out in this manner.

Works for me. If the pope arrested everyone in NOLA who cursed in public traffic would be non existent. People that curse in everyday interactions are lacking in intelligence.
