Pointe Coupee Sheriff's office thought that having just ONE officer on the scene where the gf was in hiding???? Domestic situations like this are among the deadliest types that cops deal with so why was there only ONE deputy there to deal with it??
its a rural parish. deputies are spread thin. Probably only had one on duty on that side anyway. It aint like the city, where LEOs are concentrated in a smaller area, and there are more of them.

Who is Sid? The Sheriff of PC is Bud Torres
Freudian slip. No sure where that came from....

Precisely my point. To place any blame on the dept as gingerkittie did is just plain dumb.

One would have to assume this was a fluid situation and the "victims" were fortunate to have that ONE deputy on scene when the loon arrived... Knowing the parish I wouldn't think Bud has all too many deputies up north at any given time. And how do we even know the sheriffs dept knew anyone had been kidnapped when they were called out? A lot of assuming going on here to be sure.
Somehow the family knew something was going on because they called asking for protection. Since the kidnapping at gunpoint happened in Avoyelle's perhaps Avolleye's could have offered mutual aid. After all, this man had a gun, plus a kidnap victim who was basically a hostage.

Please understand, I am not placing the blame just on the dept for having only one cop there. I have a solid history of supporting police and have family members in many depts/parishes including LSP
My concern was actually as much for the officer as for victims here. Domestic situations are one of the most volatile and dangerous situations for cops to respond to.
So I apologize if it seemed I was blaming everything on the dept, I just thought it was dangerous to put just one officer on the scene (but i understand that PC parish is a small place and doesn't have many cops on duty all at once).
The outcome of this situation could have been so much worse. thankfully the only fatality was the one who started it and was guilty of many different violent incidents.
